The Arbtalk review site has now undergone a huge redesign and is now live on a new server and domain at www.arboristreviews.co.uk
The new version of the site has been pre-loaded with the old reviews from Arbtalk and through fresh promotion will be populated with new reviews in the coming months.
Arborists are invited to submit reviews on any piece of equipment relevant to the arboricultural industry, from chainsaws and woodchippers, to climbing gear, and even computer accounting and other business related software.
New reviews are fed by a live RSS feed to Arbtalk. With this feature, and also the ability to register on the site itself for email updates, you should never miss an industry review again.
We look forward to growing this resource and hope it will prove to be a great success.

Have you spotted fungi on one of your trees? Chances are its not an immediate threat but regardless will have sent alarm bells ringing. Arbtalk has an extensive range of identification photos in its fungi guide which covers all of the main fungi likely to affect your trees along with information on their significance.
The guide is very user friendly with a handy search function. Simply enter the variety of tree you have and the directory will do the rest for you, throwing up a shortlist of fungi commonly associated with that variety. Then simply browse the shortlist till you find something that matches what you have seen. In most cases it will be fairly obvious, however due to their nature, many fungi look very similar to one another with only very subtle differences in some cases. In this case we welcome you to join our forum where there are several industry experts on hand, and providing you can supply decent high quality images we will normally be able to identify your fungi.

Arborist directory goes live!

Tag: Directory updates
Welcome to the brand new Arborist Directory brought to you by Arbtalk, the UK's premier discussion forum for arborists.
The new arborist directory has been built on the same familiar software as the existing Firewood Suppliers Directory which has already been running just short of 1 year. Although the directory is now live, there still remains a lot of work to be carried out behind the scenes over the coming months, but already the directory is being populated with companies covering a broad range of services........arboriculture, forestry, landscapers, consultants....the list goes on. There are currently 7 different categories covering the various services supplied by the advertisers, but if you feel a category has been missed out do please contact us so we can look at adding it for you.
We would be delighted to hear any and all feedback on any aspect of the website. How can we improve things for both the advertisers and the end user? If you are an end user how do you find the general navigation process? Were you able to find a tree contractor in your area? Please let us know here!
Shortly a new page will be added to the directory, aimed at the end user, and outlining many of the qualifications and other requirements arborists should hold when carrying out a professional service. This will include a breakdown of the various chainsaw certification units, insurance requirements, as well as a list of some of the trade bodies exist in the tree care industry. Please keep an eye on the 'choosing an arborist' tab in the navigation bar for this.
I shall be posting various updates in this blog as the directory progresses, but please get in touch with any suggestions you may have in the meantime.
